YIOZ 2025 Annual Dinner
We hope to see you at the YIOZ Annual Dinner this year on May 11th.
We will be honoring Nava and Adam Cohen and Seth Botnick.
Guests of Honor - Nava and Adam Cohen
Nava and Adam first moved to Riverdale in May 2003 and m
oved in December 2012 to North Riverdale. The move north and becoming members of YIOZ was perfect for them and their family. Nava quickly became involved in the youth committee thanks to Lauren Shinar and then joined the shul board for two terms. Adam loves being a regular baal tefillah in shul, a regular member of the minyan and now serves as one of the shul’s gabbaim.
Nava holds a master’s degree in Public Administration in Nonprofit Management from NYU and an undergraduate degree from the Jewish Theological Seminary. She has devoted her professional life to serving the Jewish community. In her 12th year at SAR High School, she currently serves as its Director of Operations. Nava previously worked in development and non-profit consulting. Adam holds degrees from Columbia University and The Jewish Theological Seminary, and has spent the past 26 years working at Bloomberg LP. Nava and Adam have three children Galya, Hila, and Erez (ZZ).
Community Service Award - Seth Botnick
Seth grew up in the YIOZ community and is proud to be a product of its special environment. The interludes that Seth spent living in Israel, London, and different parts of New York City have both expanded his world view and strengthened his appreciation for the unique heart that exists in North Riverdale/Yonkers. He is a regular member of minyan and was tireless in helping to ensure a smooth transition as YIOZ moved back into its home following the capital improvement project.
Seth’s personal commitment to the tenets of tikkun olam has deep roots in his family; his grandparents set the tone as true baalei chesed; his brother Mark has served for over 20 years as a member of Riverdale Hatzalah and then West Side Hatzalah. His mother has volunteered for the shul and other organizations.
Seth attended SAR High School as a member of the second graduating class, received his BA in politics from NYU, and earned an MBA from the Sy Syms School of Business at YU. Seth has worked in several different fields where he has honed his passion for operations and strategy. During the four years that he spent working at SAR Academy Seth’s respect for the shared values and dedication of this community only grew.
